Logging in with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Launching on February 12

To keep your business data and client information safe, we are introducing an extra layer of security for logging in. Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) ensures that even if someone discovers a password, they won’t be able to access your account without a second form of verification.

What’s Changing?

Depending on your role within Pike13, your experience with the MFA rollout will differ:

  • For Clients: MFA is optional. Your clients can choose to enable it for their own peace of mind, but there is no requirement for them to do so.

  • For Staff Members: MFA will eventually be required for all staff and owners.

The Transition Period (Skip Option)

We understand that you’re busy running your business. At launch, most staff members will see a "Skip for Now" button when prompted to set up MFA. This allows you to log in quickly if you're in the middle of a rush.

Note for Admins: While most staff can skip initially, some users—depending on their permission levels or account history—may be required to set it up immediately. If a staff member does not see the "Skip" option, they must complete the setup to access the site.

MFA Methods: How to Verify

When you set up MFA, you can choose between two convenient methods:

  1. Authenticator App (Recommended): Use apps like Google Authenticator, Authy, or Microsoft Authenticator to generate a secure code.

  2. Email Verification: A 6-digit code will be sent directly to the email address associated with your Pike13 profile.

Critical Step: Check Your Staff Email Addresses

For MFA to work seamlessly via email, every staff member must have a valid, accessible email address in their profile.

  • The Benefit: If your email is correct, getting a sign-in code is as easy as checking your inbox.

  • The Risk: If a staff member has an old, "dummy," or misspelled email address in Pike13, they will be locked out of their account when MFA is mandatory.

Action Item: We highly recommend that all owners and managers audit their staff list today to ensure every team member has a valid email address on file. This is the perfect time to clean up those profiles!

Troubleshooting

"I don't see the 'Skip' button. What do I do?" If the skip option isn't available, you must set up MFA to proceed. If you are worried about losing access, choose the Email option—just ensure you can access the email account listed on your profile.

"What if a staff member is locked out because of an old email?" An owner or manager with profile edit permissions will need to update that staff member's email address. Once updated, the staff member can trigger a new code to that valid inbox.
